Privacy policy

VoicedByMe runs on your computer. What you read, what you record, your voices and the audio you make stay there. We never receive them.
Who we are
VoicedByMe is made by Ashish Thapa in Nepal ("VoicedByMe", "we"). We are responsible for the personal data described here. Questions or requests: [email protected].
What stays on your computer
The app works offline. These never leave your computer and we have no access to them:
- text you read aloud, paste, or open (documents, books, pictures, parts of your screen);
- your voice recordings and the voices made from them;
- the audio you create, your history, your library and where you stopped reading;
- what AI agents on your computer (such as Claude Code or Codex) ask VoicedByMe to say. They talk to the app only on your computer.
The AI markings in your audio
The law asks that AI-made audio can be recognised as AI-made, so the speech VoicedByMe makes carries an inaudible watermark, and the files it saves say "AI-generated" in their details. The watermark holds only a code that means "made with VoicedByMe". Nothing about you, your computer, your license or what was said is in it, and it can't be used to find out who made a recording.
When the app goes online

Buying VoicedByMe
Purchases are handled by Dodo Payments, our merchant of record: they process your payment, billing details and taxes under their privacy policy. We never see your card details. We receive your name, email address, country, what you bought and your license key, so we can deliver it, support you, and keep the records the law requires.
This website
- Hosting: the site and the app's updates run on Cloudflare (United States), which processes your IP address to deliver pages and protect the site.
- Fonts: pages load fonts from Google Fonts, which sees your IP address.
- Check a clip: the file you check stays in your browser and is never uploaded. To run the check, the page downloads ONNX Runtime from jsDelivr and the watermark detector from Hugging Face, which see your IP address.
- No analytics, no advertising, no tracking cookies.
Why we may use it (legal bases)
- Delivering what you bought, support and license checks: to perform our contract with you.
- Records for tax and accounting: a legal obligation.
- Update checks and protecting the site: our legitimate interest in keeping the app up to date and the site secure.
How long we keep it
Purchase records for as long as tax law requires. Server logs from update checks for a short time only, as Cloudflare keeps them.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct, export or delete your personal data, or object to its use: write to [email protected], and we'll answer within 30 days. If you're in the EU or UK, you can also complain to your data protection authority.
Children
VoicedByMe is not meant for children under 16, and we don't knowingly collect their data.
Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update the date above, and tell customers by email if the change matters.
