VoicedByMe / Use cases / Claude Code voice
Claude Code · Codex · Cursor · Claude app · Hermes Agent
Claude Code, out loud.
VoicedByMe gives Claude Code a voice. One click adds hooks so Claude Code says when it has finished, reads out what it wants permission to run, and reads its questions aloud, in a natural voice or your own, fully offline. Codex, Cursor, Hermes Agent and the Claude app connect the same way.
Samples made offline with ready-made voices. All of them are AI-generated.
How it works
Connect once. Then look away.
-
Install VoicedByMe
Windows 10 and 11 or a Mac with Apple silicon. Pick a ready-made voice or clone your own.
-
Connect Claude Code
Open AI agents and press Connect. It adds its hooks and a speak tool, and backs up your settings first.
-
Work on something else
Claude Code tells you when it's done, when it needs permission and when it has a question. You come back when it matters.
What it says
The moments you'd otherwise miss.
When it's done
"All done! I fixed the login bug, and all forty-two tests pass." The reply is read, shortened the way you choose.
When it needs permission
"Claude Code wants to run npm install. Allow it?" The actual command, not a beep.
When it asks a question
The question is read with its options, so you can decide before you even look.
When you ask it to speak
"Say hi in my voice" works: Claude Code gets a speak tool it knows how to use.
A voice per agent
Claude Code, Codex and Cursor can each sound different, so you know who is talking.
Quiet when it should be
Quiet hours, and quiet while you're already looking at the agent. Hooks never change what Claude Code does.

Questions
Does it change how Claude Code behaves?
No. The hooks only read what happened and always let Claude Code carry on. Disconnect puts your settings back as they were.
Is my code or my prompts sent anywhere?
No. The voice runs on your computer and listens only to programs on it. Nothing Claude Code says out loud is uploaded.
Which agents can speak?
Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Hermes Agent and the Claude app connect with one click. Any MCP agent can use the speak tool.
Can I turn it off at night?
Yes. Set quiet hours, and it also stays quiet while you're looking at the agent's window.
